Scanography: Two Series

Scanography: Two Series

This project studies how visual change appears when one condition shifts at a time. The work includes two related series built with the same scanning method. In the first series, I scanned the same material multiple times and altered only the speed of movement during each scan. This series centers on time, pace, and duration.

In the second series, I held movement speed steady and changed the materials instead. This shift redirected attention from time toward surface, texture, and material response. The main challenge involved maintaining discipline and resisting additional adjustments during the process.

In a classroom context, students change one variable at a time while keeping tools and steps consistent. This structure clarifies cause and effect. Using the same scanning method helps students compare images directly and notice differences without confusion. Repetition slows the pace and supports careful observation rather than quick judgment. Reflection stays focused on actions and results, which builds process awareness and supports shared discussion without pressure for personal storytelling.
