Creative Assignment: On/off experiment
Creative Assignment: On/off experiment
I had already engaged in this practice before the assignment. For this project, I did not introduce a new activity. I continued an existing method of stepping away from digital devices. The practice involves hand copying Daoist scriptures in traditional Chinese characters. Each session requires sustained attention and intentional mental focus.
At the beginning of a session, concentration feels difficult. Thoughts remain active and distracting. Despite this, continued writing produces a noticeable shift in the perception of time. One page typically takes thirty to forty minutes to complete, and I usually copy several pages in one sitting. After each session, I often realize more time has passed than expected. This contrast between measured time and experienced time became a key observation in this process.
